What happens to shared sis parts when I delete a vault store

I have Enterprise vault 9 installed on a windows 2003 server. When we upgraded to version 9 we configured sharing within group by accident. This was changed later to sharing within Vault store after a couple of months

We have since moved a lot of items to another vault store on the same server and should have an empty vault store that we would like to delete.

However i think there are some shared sis items in this store. What will happen to them if i delete this vault store.

Hope someone can advise me, Thanks

You cannot delete a vault store whilst partitions exist, and you can't delete partitions whilst data still exists inside of it, yOu'd be best off just closing the partitions and periodically checking to see if it's completely empty If you forcefully attempt to delete items you may end up removing shared parts that other vault stores are dependent on

Thanks for the reply. How can I check to see if the partitions are completely empty. Do i just browse the files or is there another way to check

typically if the folders don't have anything in them, then that would indicate they're empty
you can also look at the Saveset and Saveset_SISPart to see whether items exist there or not.

You can check if the folders are empty. If there is no data in it, you can conclude there is no data in the partition.

well you should check the db before doing anything

In the folders there is still 20gb of data, mostly .DVSSP files but they are few and far between with mostly empty folders.

When I check the database there does not seem to be anything in the saveset or saveset_sispart tables. Does this mean that i can delete the vault store?

nope, you're going to have to leave it unfortunately, the DVSSP files are shared parts that are connected via your fingerprint db, if you remove them, when other users attempt to recall items it will error for them

(worst case scenario would be if you had a logo or something that was fairly large but got sent out in every email, and that is shared in that particular directly, now when you attempt to retrieve the message, it fails because that shared part has been deleted, but that one part could kill every other message (potentially)
