To commemorate U.S. Veterans Day, REVIV—Remembering and Empowering Veterans in Veritas—has partnered with a nonprofit, A Million Thanks, to send letters to those serving or who have served in the US military. The goal of these letters is to see that our military – active, reserve, and veterans – receive these messages, whether they are serving at home, abroad, or are recovering in hospitals. REVIV recognizes the difference this can make and hopes it provides a bright moment for them and acknowledge their courage and sacrifice.
Additionally, REVIV hosted a fireside chat featuring Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret.) Nancy Norton and Veritas General Manager and SVP of Product Management and U.S. Navy Veteran, Doug Matthews. Last year Vice Admiral Norton shared insights into what Veteran’s Day means to us, the challenges Veterans face transitioning to civilian life, and the foundation of skills Veterans bring to corporate environments. This year, that conversation continued, diving deeper into hiring more Veterans into the workforce, what’s important to veterans when choosing the next opportunity in their career, and how Veritas celebrates Veterans.
When asked about strategies on bringing more Veterans to the workforce, Vice Admiral Norton shared, "The most important way we can recruit is through word of mouth with Veterans. Like the military, you have a very important mission, and you have a very good culture; and both of those are what every Veteran looks for in their next career opportunity.”
Vice Admiral Norton reminds us that Veterans Day and especially through the holiday season, is a great time to celebrate and show support for their service. Doug Matthews has invited all Veritas employees to “Take the time to write a letter to our veterans, and our active-duty service men and women.” Vice Admiral Norton adds, "They are really going to love those letters."
