In 2018, Veritas’ Roseville office held its first annual Step Challenge, and with impressive results. Among the 63 participating Roseville employees, a total of 30,983,618 steps were taken during the 49 days of the challenge.
When the Roseville Site Committee met for yearly planning in Winter 2018, they discussed different health and wellness activities to propose to the broader team in the upcoming year, and the Veritas Roseville Step Challenge was born.
Taking advantage of the Minnesota summer
Veritas’ Stephanie Merkel explains, “We only have a few months out of the year with ideal weather, so we knew we wanted to hold the competition during the Minnesota summer. We have a beautiful Roseville campus near Langton Lake, and employees could use this space throughout the Step Challenge.”
To the delight of the program leaders, participants were playfully competitive even if they weren’t in the top three positions. Stephanie explained, “Teams even began challenging each other or challenging themselves to walk more steps then the previous week.”
