2106 - Disk Storage Unit is down

Hi All,

We are often getting disk storage unit down issue (2106). It has been resovled after rebooting the Master and Media server. But I would like to know if there is any permanant fix to solve this issue. Please advise.

Environment details:

Master Server : Windows 2012

Media Server : Windows 2012

Datadomain : DD890

Netbackup Version :7.7.2

Is it always the Data Domain you see the failures on ?

What DDOS version are you running ?

Using DD BOOST, SAN or CIFS on the data domain ?

Can you show us a failed jobs ?

Yes. I always see the failures in DD.

What is the connection to data domain , BOOST or CIFS  ?

in [install_path]/netbackup/db/config create the following files:

DPS_PROXYDEFAULTRECVTMO

 DPS_PROXYDEFAULTSENDTMO

DPS_PROXYNOEXPIRE

and put the value 900 in the fist two files. NB: NO FILE EXTENSION on the 3 text files.

Have you experince with the tool iperf ?

Connection to Data Domain , I think CIFS share . Becuase it is mounted as one network drive in Master and Media servers.

Where should I create the files , in Master or Media Server  or on both servers ?

I dont have experience with tool iperf.

 

Please advise.

Using DD as CIFS share and Basic Disk STU is bad news...

NBU cannot use the advanced features of Data Domain plus you (and NBU) are at the mercy of shortcomings in CIFS protocol.

Please invest in DDBoost (from EMC) and dedupe license (NBU) to best make use of available features.

Ok. Thanks . We use OST plugin to Connect DD. So I think it is configured as DD boost. Becuase we have arround 20 percent of dedup ratio.

Also It mentioed to create files and restart the service on Media server. I have created the files which mentioned earlier. PFA. Please let me know if there is any format is wrong, shall I go ahead and restart the services .

Yes - there is a mis-configuration. You have added a file extension (.txt). Files need to be without file extension.

There is no need to re-start Netbackup services.

Also as a test - ping the Data Domain interface for 24 hours. If you have a more than a couple of lost packages you need to investigate network stability

# ping {data_domain} -l 8192 -t

If you have Data Domain mounted as a CIFS share, ensure antivris doesn scan the Netbackup image files. Know to cause problems.
