Has anyone ever seen this when using bpexpdate?

bpexpdate -recalculate -backupid master_1168937548 -ret 2
Are you SURE you want to recalculate expiration dates on all images
that meet the following criteria:
backupid master_1168937548
retention will be changed to 2(3 years)

Continue?(y/n)y
premature eof encountered

what does this return? Does it look normal?

# bpimagelist -backupid master_1168937548

If it looks OK then can you still sucessfully run
# bpverify -backupid master_1168937548.

bob these work but its cr*ps itself with a EOF when I try to change the expire date of the media.

how did the Jax thing go?

Stumpr2
Level 6
# bpimagelist -backupid master_1168937548
is it mutiplexed and/or spanning across different media?

I had an hour interview that seemed to go well but I have not received an offer yet.

I tried it on images that were on just one tape and then one thats on two tapes.

huh strange.

Does the tape have to be in the library, maybe...?

There was a bug introduced with NetBackup 5.1 MP5. It is resolved with MP 6. Bpexpdate options other than recalculate should still work.

This is from the release notes for MP6:

Etrack Incident = ET703423

Description:
When the bpexpdate command was run and the recalculate option was used, a
fault would occur in the bpdbm process.

I guess it's worth a try to create the bpdbm debug folder and check out the debug log.

Does anyone know whether there is a workaround for this? By the time we are able to apply MP6, the images whose retention need extended will probably have expired... ;o(

keelin,
call support and see if they have a binary you can download
