Hello,
Please help me to find a way to make a copy of daily incremental / weekly full backup tape to another tape in the same STK C2 library and take it out. I am using netbackup 7 on Solaris 10. Your help is highly appreciated...

Hi,
if you want to copy already existing backups you have to use "duplicate".  from the GUI:
Go to catalog,
select from the pull down menu the duplicate option
select the tape you want
select the date range
select search.
After the search finish select all images, right click and select duplicate.

If you want to use command line check the “bpduplicate” command

If you want to have two copies for all next backups, you have three options:
A) use vault (licensed)
B) select multiple copies from  schedules
C) use lifecycle storage units.

Personally to do this, If I have plenty of drives I would select B. if I not I would select C

I have a question about multiple copies -
NBU likes to restore from primary copies.  How do you make it restore from secondary copies?

thanks

For GUI restores, just create a file with name ALT_RESTORE_COPY_NUMBER at the netbackup directory. Put inside the number of copy you want to restore and then start the restore

Check this technote:
How to restore from a different copy of the backup: http://support.veritas.com/docs/312838

It’s a shame that the new netbackup 7 does not have this option at the GUI.
