My full backups are not kicking off automatically at the schedule time.

we have full backup every Friday evening and incrementals rest of the week. incremental backups start on time... but only the full backups are not kicking off at the scheduled time. I have to manually start them. Any ideas/help. we are on 5.1 MP3 on solaris8 64-bit

The frequency is determined by when the last full backup ran. If you are manually starting them then that would be the last full backup. If they are scheduled to run on Saturday with a frequency of 1 week, and if you run a manual backup on Monday because the Saturday did not run. Then a week will not have elapsed since the last full backup. There will only have been 5 days since the last full backup ran on Monday..
When the window opens on Saturday it will not schedule the backup because 1 week has not passed. Does this make sense?
 
Oh...substitute Friday night with Saturday in the above description. Basically change the frequency to 3 days instead of 1 week to prevent schedule creep.

You are 100% right... for this reason i started backups 5 minutes  (Friday 16:55Hrs) before the scheduled time and they still didn't start on their own the following week (Friday 17:00Hrs). I wait until 19:00Hrs to kick them off manually again.

change Frequency to every 3 days and your good to go on Friday
