 ndmp

humm ndmp.org

ndmp client is installed on a real NAS like a EMC Cellera or a Net App, it as far as i know cannot be installed on a windows file server.

If you are backing up a NDMP filer with a Windows server and its the master then youre OK.

NDMP filers need there own tapes drive and to configure you have to lo into the master server to set the authentication.

NDMP Client (Filer) sends data to its own Tape drive, authentication is configed on the master server.

Well as far as I know you cannnot installa anything on the Storage appliances. As most of them have special purpose OS.

For Eg - NetApp has Data ONTAP

NDMP -

1. You will need to install NDMP option in NBU.

2. No need to install anything on storage.

3. You will need to enable the NDMP daemon on storage.

4. You will need to decide how you will take the NDMP backup (local, remote or 3-way)

Catalog merging -

you can refer below mentioned link for your catalog query

hope this helps...
