NetBackup new version availability

Hello

Do you know when new NBU release will be available, ie. 8.x or new major release? If so can you please share this information? Currently majority of NBU domains at my company are running on 773 version and I need to take decision if we should go with 8.0 or wait few more weeks for something newer like 8.1 or so... I do not want to be caught in the middle of upgrades that new NBU release is available. Please advise.

Veritas does not publish Roadmap and future release dates in public.

Your local Veritas SE may be able to get you an estimated date, but that is always subject to a bunch of disclaimers.

As far as I am aware, 8.1 is still in Beta testing.

Unless you are waiting for a specific feature/fix in 8.1, why not upgrade to 8.0?

EOSL is still way down the line for currently supported versions.

Hi,

Currently I use NBU 8.0 in my environment, since this version was lauched in the end of last year, if Im not mistaken this version was lauched in 5 december, the custommer wants to install then it. Yesterday I was take a look on EEB guide and saw that many problems in 7.6, 7.7,7.7.2 and 7.7.3 was solved in this version.

In the beginning I had some problems because this new version have a webservice, specifically with webconsole, during the installation of master server, but only this, here the customer give an domain account and according this document https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000081350, I could use, without problem:

Note: If your master is clustered, then you must use a domain account. Domain account can be used in non-clustered environments.

But some time ago, the web services stopp to work. I open a case on Veritas Support and the engineer that back-lines of Veritas support, Were recommending that clients change the domain account through a local account.Nowadays the webservice still not works fine, so If possible use local account instead of domain account.

I think that you can go ahead with upgrade of your environment just take a look the Documentation, especially in Relaese Notes e EEB Guide. Recently I found this article below and Im running after to apply these EEBs and solve this issues.
