I'm facing an error in the end while installing netbackup client 7.7.3 on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.
"No [x]inetd process found."
I'm not sure if the installation was successful or not. but am able to start/stop the netbackup service
from /opt/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/netbackup
Also i could see bpcd process running, iam able to also telnet from the master server for 13782 port too

Seems to be purely info and not a error message.
Netbackup did use (x)inet.d in previous version of Netbackup, but is not required for NBU 7.7.
if you can run command :
nbemmcmd -listhost
you are all good.

Ok Thanks NIcolai, i'll check the output for nbemmcmd -listhosts and will update you.

I doubt that nbemmcmd command exists on a client...
As from NBU 7.0, client startup is no longer linked to [x]inetd.
Startup and kill scripts to start PBX, vnetd and bpcd are added to /etc/init.d/rc0.d/ and /etc/init.d/rc2.d/ (See NBU Installation Guide)
If you run /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpps -x, you should see:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/vnetd -standalone
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd -standalone
/opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbx_exchange

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpps -x

DOH - of cause, heading says client. I had master server in mind.
