Rebuild media server hosting an MSDP pool

Hi

One of our media servers has crashed and needs a rebuild, it contains an MSDP pool  - are there any process docs out there i can use to get it back online?

Or is it just a case of re-installing o/s / netbackup s/w?

Are there any other steps to get it back online?

I suggest you open a support case with Veritas whenever there is a change of losing data.

Depending on the crash, the file system holding the msdp pool may be intact. If you do a blind re-install the installation may overwrite essential msdp configuration files.

If you want to do this yourself, there are two chapters in the NetBackup Deduplication Guide that cover this specific topic (Recovering MSDP & Replacing MSDP hosts), the second topic is more relevant to the scenario you describe.

Of course the fundamental requirement is that the MSDP data is still intact.
