Hi all -
One of our clients is logging a status 1 (partially successful) backup with this message:
7/10/2007 9:57:08 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=4872) from client cpc0w2 ERR - failure reading file: Shadow Copy Components:\System State\System Files\System Files (BEDS 0xFFFFFEDF: )

Windows Server 2003 Standard - SP1
Client version is 5.1MP6.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Patrick

This link mentions the same error and that the root cause was that some registry keys had had their protection changed:

They also mention that they tried taking a system state / shadow copy components backup using Windows own NTBackup - and because that also had the same error they determined that the problem wasn't to do with NetBackup, but with the Windows configuration.

We had the same problem on Windows 2003 SP1 servers (with NetBackup 5.1MP3A to 5.1MP6) and a wide

range of hardware types.

In our cases, the Windows 2003 SP2 solved the problem.

Due to this error, we also had partially or completely emtpy C:\WINDOWS\system32 - directories !

We suppose, that the problem was caused by a certain nLite / scsi storeport installation configuration.

We also found a work around for Windows 2003 SP1 servers. However, the WINDOWS admin is right now on

holiday and he only knows the details regarding the work around....
