Snapshot Error Control with Windows Open File Backup

kbrandt
Level 4

Under snapshot error control I can choose t o abort the backup on error or disable Snapshot & Continue.

If I chose the disable Snapshot and continue:
  1. Is it a snapshot of the file, or a snapshot of the whole partition backup (This is at the root of the following questions)?
  2. Will just the particular file be left out of the backup since there was an error, or will the whole backup be messed up?
  3. If the snapshot is a snapshot of a file and not the whole partition, Will open file still (potentially) work for other open files?

1: Both VSS and VSP are volume based.
2: Pretend when the failure occur. If it's during snapshot creation, no open files will be backed up. If it's during the backup process, then all open files after the snapshot error will be without a backup.
3: The snap is volume based.
