Socket write failed

Hi all,

We are using Netbackup 6.5.6 on a Linux server (Red Hat 5.8).  We are attempting to restore files located on a tape from another environment.  I was able to catalog the tape without issues.  However when I try to restore any files I receive the following error.

Error bptm (pid=1321) cannot write data to socket, Connection reset by peer

Error bptm (pid=1321 The following files/folders were not restored:

Error bptm (pid=1321) UTF - /F/{file_name}

restored from image {tape_name}; retore time: 0:00:49

Error bpbrm (pid=1300) client restore EXIT STATUS 24: socket write failed

end Restore; elapsed time 0:00:51

the restore failed to recover the requested files (5)

We have attempted restoring to filer volumes and Linux servers with the same results.  The data on the tape appears using the MS-Windows-NT Policy.  Any assistance would be welcomed.

More info please... Seems you are trying to restore Windows data (F-drive). You need to restore this data to a Windows client. Nothing else is supported. If another Windows domain, select 'Restore without access control attributes' in restore window.

For further troubleshooting, ensure that all of these logs exist:

On master: bprd (restart NBU to enable log)

On media server: bpbrm and bptm

On destination client: bpcd and bpbkar

*** EDIT ***

CORRECTION:

On destination client: bpcd and tar

(Thanks revaroo!)

IF the backup is MS-Windows-NT you have to restore to a Windows system. You Cannot restore to NDMP or Unix/Linux as it is not supported:
