Always good to run the Pre-Recovery Check as this will point out problems before the actual restore attempt.

Have you seen this post?
https://vox.veritas.com/t5/NetBackup/Netbackup-7-5-VMware-policy-restore-error-2820/td-p/460715

Please always remember to share details of all steps taken when attempting a restore.

Hi @Marianne

Yep already saw this earlier, I've already checked the "Remove backing information like CD/DVD"

I saw this on my bpVMutil logs.

16:34:13.812 [11604.7364] find_virtual_server_cred: Couldn't find hovmhv03.smretail.com
16:34:13.812 [11604.7364] <2> createVMwareVM: find credential failed for ESX host hovmhv03.smretail.com using hovcent1.smretail.com
16:34:13.812 [11604.7364] checkBackupRegEntry: searching configuration for UseDiskControllerPrefix
16:34:13.812 [11604.7364]  RegOpenKey failed with 2

And as per cheking on the NBU Console, there's no hovmhv03.smretail.com listed in Credentials -> Virtual Machine Servers.

Thanksa and Best Regards!

We still need more info please....

What type of restore was done?
Virtual Machine Recovery dialog boxes (restore to original location)
or
Virtual Machine Recovery dialogs boxes (restore to alternate location)
and what were the restore options selected/specified?

If you look carefully, you will see the following in the error:

... find credential failed for ESX host hovmhv03.smretail.com using hovcent1.smretail.com

We can assume here that hovcent1.smretail.com is the vCenter server, right?
Was hovmhv03 specified as ESX server in the restore template?

Please provide screenshots of the step-by-step restore attempt.

Hi @Marianne

Its Original Location

Yes, hovcent1.smretail.com is a vCenter and yes hovmhv03 is an ESX Server.

Please see the attached file to see the procedures.
