What is difference between 250-271 certification and STO-173

Hi Guys,

I want to go for Symantec certification.

I want to know what is difference between 250-271 and STO-173 ?

I am planning to do STO-173.

Please advise.

250-271 is for - Administration of Symantec NetBackup 7.5 for Unix


If you want to go for 7.5 Unix certification in  Prometric testing center-
It would be 250-271 .

Not sure what is ST0-173

But when googled I see below link:

Also I dont see STO 173 is listed under symantec certification exams:

So if you want to write 7,5 Unix go for 250-271

Actually I am plaaaning to give this STO-173 through one of our symanatec parter which offer 50% discount or so, 

After apprering for STO-173 they got "Symantec Technical Specalist" certificate.

with some stuff on certificate like technical self assement .

I guess both 250-271 and STO-173 based on same questions.

Please advise.

But I am not partner with suymantec, so should I go for STO-173 exam?

however 250-271 is costing me around rs 9450 and sto-173 aroung rs. 4250

The only way to book STS exams is to logon to PartnerNet.

So  will I become partner with symantec? If yes, will I get discount on exams?

Some people show visiting card with Logo like Symantec partners, what is that all about/ What exactly they do? Do we have to pay to Symantec to become their partners?

I want to know this.

You can only request Partner Access if you are working for a Symantec Partner. Symantec partners are resellers.  See http://partnerlocator.symantec.com/

If not, forget about STO-173. You will not be able to take this exam.
