ms-sql backup option

Hi,

can anyone tell wheter netbackup 6.5 for unix supports the ms-sql server option
all i can seem to find points to windows netbackup servers.

ms-sql is by definition a Windows product.  Or are you asking if unix Master Server can backup Windows ms-sql client?  That it can.

Yes it can, you need to add the MS SQL License key on the master server before the option becomes available.

because we have a unix master and mediaserver and we need to backup mssql servers.

If you're looking at the Compatibility List (Database Agents Proliferation) it is a bit confusing.  Basically what that doc is saying, for example, is that if your client is running SQL Server 2008 then your Netbackup software must be version 6.5.3, whereas SQL Server 2000 can work with Netbackup 6.0.  The Compatibility List doesn't spell out that your Master Server can be Solaris or Windows or whatever.
