I would still like to see

"Could you provide the output of the verify command from the technote I listed?"

Hi Mnolan

This is the output of the verify command :

So it is very odd that the filer is reporting back,

"Destination path must end with original path."

As that is normally a NDMP V2 specification, not NDMP V4 as your filer is reporting both in the verify and in the log.

However, try to give it what it is asking for.

Please try your restore with the destination being

/vol/fs0009/RRHH_SDE/2011/FORMACIÓN_restore/2011/FORMACIÓN/

or

/vol/fs0009/RRHH_SDE/restore/2011/FORMACIÓN

original_path   = 2011/FORMACIÃN/
destination_dir = /vol/fs0009/RRHH_SDE/2011/FORMACIÃN_restore/2011/FORMACIÃN/

And to /vol/fs0009/RRHH_SDE/restore/2011/FORMACIÓN

i have :

original_path   = 2011/FORMACIÃN/
destination_dir = /vol/fs0009/RRHH_SDE/restore/2011/FORMACIÃN/

Looking that over, none of the variables we are setting for the environment would cause this behaviour either? Perhaps a NetApp issue.

I would check with them regarding this Twitter post of their to see if it is the same issue.

https://twitter.com/NetAppKB/status/250331522836611072

" New NetApp KBID2017050: Updating to DataONTAP 7.3.7 reports error: Destination path must end with source path "

I do not have a login for their site, so I cannot see if 7.3.7sp1 is supposed to be affected or not.

Have you setup filer side ndmpd logging to capture this as well?

hi

I have opened a case whith symantec ( 6248551  ) too and the technician told  me the next :

*************************************************

Updating to Data ONTAP 7.3.7 reports error: Destination path must end with source path

Symptoms

When making an attempt to restore an NDMP backup from tape with certain third party NDMP backup software, the following error message is reported after updating to Data ONTAP 7.3.7:

NDMP_ILLEGAL_ARGS_ERR: 'Destination path must end with source path'

Cause

This issue is caused due to NDMP changes between Data ONTAP 7.3.6P5 and Data ONTAP versions 7.3.7, 8.0.2 and 8.1.1.

The issue has been noted in BUG 613414, but the workaround is not possible on all occasions (NetWorker 7.6SP1)

Solution

If an update to Data ONTAP 8.0.4 or even 8.1.1 is not required (for example, due to compatibility issues with the backup software or other software), reverting to 7.3.6P5 will stop the update from happening. Restores will be fully functional again.

*************************

I think that this doesn't the problem because we have the same ONTAP version 2 years ago and we have restored another files in all this time.

Thanks

I would open a case with NetApp since it is their device that is reporting the error.
