Did you mean:

remove media server from activity monitor/emm database

Graeme_Welsh

while testing some stuff in lab environment (currently, trying and failing to do a clustered media server installation)
did something silly, added a node of the cluster as a media server, (this worked, adding the netbackup virtual server name didnt), now id like to remove this media server from the topology screen etc, thought simply removing it from the list of media servers in host properties\master server, theres also no registry entries or anything in vm.conf (cant find bp.conf)

any idea how to get rid of it?

It just seams very strange that when you ask a question it's almost as if Bob is asking it, and you give Bob the most points even though others are just as correct. Bob is right there for you!

Your in scotland, this means its almost 7 pm or 8 pm, dont you have a family?

Just thinking out loud.

I believe you use this command:
nbemmcmd -deletehost

If you type it, it will show you syntax.

This doen't always work but it still should be followed. This is step 8 in
DOCUMENTATION: How to correctly decommission a NetBackup Media Server and remove it from the NetBackup environment
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/230047.htm

8. Update the bp.conf and vm.conf files on the master server and all media servers (or the servers list on a Windows master or media server) in the NetBackup environment to remove any reference to the decommissioned media server. Also update the server list on all clients to no longer include a reference to the decommissioned media server. Cycle the NetBackup daemons/services on any system where these files are modified.

of course you already mentioned that there is no bp.conf - that means you are working with only wondow boxes.

I'm sorry I can't help too much since I have not used or even seen NB 6.0. Perhaps there are some more possibilities as Aaron demonstrated.Message was edited by:

I had nothing to do during lunch so I sat down on my behind and did some investigating on Graeme's postings

Total number of posts = 35
Total number of posts where reward points were given = 21
Total points distributed = 200
distribution is as follows:

65 Bob Stump
40 James Dunne
35 Aaron Kopel
35 Yasuhisa Itoh
05 Ken Putnam
05 Deepak Bhalwanker
05 Julien Mari
05 Derek Black
05 Chia Tan Beng

Overall, I wish there were more participants like Graeme.
There were very few RTFM questions.
And Graeme is most gracious with rewarding us with points.

I am able to get to some participants quickly because I set a watch on them to be notified via email when they post a question. I only set watches on those that reward me with points. However, I try to help everyone whenever I am able.

It's a beautiful day in Michigan. Sunny and 70 degrees Faren. Perhaps I should give myself some time off this afternoon.
