The first quarter of our fiscal FY’13 calendar year has been focused on partner engagement.  We have been busy collaborating with our partners, participating and presenting in many events across North America. 

We recently participated in XChange Public Sector on June 6-8 in Charlotte, NC.  Over 120 partners were in attendance.  Symantec presented in a total three boardroom sessions to the SLED and Federal partners. In addition, we got the opportunity to have a booth at the Vendor Tech Fair and met the partner’s one on one. 

We also held our “Enterprise Partner Advisory Council” meeting on June 6-7 at our Symantec headquarters in Mountain View, CA.  This allowed us the chance to get in front of our partners and learn what is top of mind when partnering with Symantec and how we can work towards bridging the gap.  We spent valuable time going over such topics as Symantec’s strategy for FY’13, new brand positioning being introduced this year, as well as breakout sessions going over the current forecast and desired joint achievements for the year. 

In Canada, we held 5 Town Halls across 5 major cities to kick off the new fiscal year and talk to our partners about our new “Channel Everywhere” strategy.  These half day sessions included a panel discussion with Symantec’s account team leads reviewing better ways to engage with the channel as well as a very valuable session on “How to Whiteboard Symantec Solutions.”  Overall, these events were well received and we gained valuable knowledge from our partners on how to better position Symantec in the market. 

A big congratulations goes out to more than 800 NEW SMB Specialized partners who attended our Backup Exec Boot Camp trainings in one of the 47 cities or through our virtual boot camp series.  The trainings introduced partners to our newest release – Backup Exec 2012 as well as our new solutions Backup Exec Small Business Edition and BE.cloud.  Partners can now enjoy the benefits of SMB Specialization which includes a 5% up-front discount, log on to PartnerNet to learn more.
