Converting .sv2i to .vmdk

Ray_Arts
Level 4
Situation: 2 servers,

- server 1 is having the GUI installed and running the process
- server 2 is storing the .sv2i files and will store the .vmdk files

The conversion process is freezing at the status: Calculating remaining time..

Both servers are on the same subnet and physical switch.

Any help appreciated

I'm having a similar problem. Trying to convert the .sv2i file of my Windows 2003 box to a Microsoft Virtual Hard Drive and it crashes during the "Calculating Remaining Time" message.  I've also tried installing the software on my XP box and converting the file from my XP box but I get the same results.

Has anyone converted a physical server to a virtual?

I have converted several Windows 2003 images to virtual disks. Converting to vhd files and vmdk works but I have issues trying to load the vhd versions. Virtual server boots but it never goes past Windows Server 2003 splash screen. Same image converted to vmdk will boot then run through setup to install devices and works. Takes some time but it works.
