One time backup of my system drive has failed: This op. cannot be perf. while Win runs

I have just installed Windows Xp Sp3 Ghost v14 on Asus ABN-E AMD 3000+ 2G RAM. The system drive is a Maxtor 20G ATA. After I finished the job I tried to back up my work with one time backup of the sytem drive C: to another shared network drive (later I tried another local disk anyway). At 5% I got this message:

Title: Drive Backup of System (C:\)

Msg: This operation cannot be performed while Windows is running. You must complete this operation inside the recovery environment. Would you like to continue? Yes/No

After I picked Yes it went end. In case of No was the same.

Based on a previous similar forum message I set smart copy disable check box to unchecked and bad sector ignorance to checked.

What should I do?

Hey, thanx for the fast reply!

Okay, I checked that. I set the page file to drive D: instead of drive C: what I wanna back up. I also checked the destination drive. It has more than 110Gbytes of free space. The problem and the message has not changed.

What else can I do for better result? I can say again: the system backup is working on two different machines but not working on the third one
