Thanks for the reply. Now I dont remember the IDR process step by step but how would you chose to restore only the Windows server and not the exchange data?

Well I think the solution for this was to install the exchange agent on the backup exec server itself. Still looking into this.

Just in case anyone was wondering I ended up doing an OS install from scratch and restored the DB's since IDR wouldnt work.

Best method is probably 1 full backup a week with daily incrementals. I havent gotten synthetic backups to work with Exchange as of yet.

IMHO I dont think there is such an option. I would tell the user figure out what files they need.. have them look at the backup exec console with you. If they cant remember what file they were working on then tough luck for them. That's not an IT pro...
