We have a tape that was sent to us using Solaris. The files were using the Tar format. Can Backup Exec 10.0 read the files on this tape? If we had the Unix agent for Veritas could it read these files?

Did this ever get resolved? I am having the same issue. I have verified that the system account does have rights to all folders and files needed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the info. I have actually used Netbackup quite a lot before and I agree. Huge learning curve.

Thanks for the quick response. Will Netbackup read the TAR format? My understanding is that Netbackup uses that format natively. Is this correct and if so, will it read tapes that have been backed up using Solaris in the TAR format? Thanks again.
