The backup set contains data and Exchange. That's disappointing as I'd hate to clean this out manually, but that looks like the solution. Thanks for the reply.

I received the same error when trying to restore a users inbox.I resolved the issue by setting the restore job to dismount the IS (and remount when done), then setting up an Exchange mailbox for the userid used in backups.

Make it a dword as a hex value with ffffffff as the value. Do not put a leading 0x in there, it will add it automatically.
