  • What version of Outlook are you using (and service pack)?

What version of Enterprise Vault are you using (and service pack)?

Normally when you double click an archived item, the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in will do one of two things :-

a/ Retrieve the item from your Offline Vault/Vault Cache and display it

b/ Retrieve it from the server (insert it in to your Offline Vault / Vault Cache) and display it.

Are you connected to the corporate network, or connecting via RPC/HTTP (or Outlook Anywhere)?

.... some more details are needed !

  • If you click the grey bar, does it actually open the item or does it do nothing?
Based on a previous post where you talked about shared mailboxes, it may be because outlook is not configured to Allow Scripts In Shared Folders, meaning if you attempt to open a shortcut in a shared mailbox, the vbs contained in the EV Shortcuts will not trigger and thus the items won't open

  • If you click the grey bar, does it actually open the item or does it do nothing?

    ### it does nothing and I cannot see any error message from the Outlook client :-| do I have to enable the ActiveX or scripting in the Outlook 2007 client so thatI can click that link ?

  • nono, in outlook, you need to go to the Trust Center and in there, there is Mail Security

    You will have two options
     - Enable Scripting
     - Enable Scripting in Shared Folders

By default, Enable Scripting In Shared Folders is disabled
Also if this is on a Citrix or Terminal Services machine where the profile resides, then the OutlVBS.dll does not get installed due to Outlook detecting a shared environment, you would have to manually copy over the outlvbs.dll and then try again

  • Yes, I forgot to mention that :-)

this is happens on my Outlook 2007 in the Terminal Server 2003.

  • You are very great Jesus !

many thanks for the explanation and the help so far, I really appreciate it.
