0xe000fe7d : Error in BE 2010

KB1
Level 3
I've upgraded recently from BE 12.5 to BE 2010 and i've got a problem with a couple of servers. I run a backup system of 30+ servers, both internally and externally. I've tried to find a solution to this problem online, but i've found nothing yet and the answers i've found doesn't help.

Problem is, that backup of System State fails due to a credentials problem.

V-79-57344-65149 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: ... Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE7D): Access is denied. To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required.

I don't use AOFO, it's not even installed. I've tried to create a new account and setting this up i BE, but no luck. When i run a credentials test in BE it all complete succesfully, but it won't run i the backup job.

I've read somewhere that this is a problem if you have a Server 2003 that is also a DC. The servers on which i have this problem are all 2003 DC's, but i have other 2003 DC's that don't have this problem, so i don't understand why only some of them have this problem.

Anyone out there that can help me?

Thanx

I've been there, done that, but no luck.

I've tried adding it as a domain user, i've created a new user as domain admin, admin, backup operator. But still no luck.

What other options is there?

I've been through these before, i found the same pages trying to google an answer. But nothing works. Changed users accounts i BE to domain\xxxxxx, created new users and tried both with and without domain\xxxxx. Either one i try, it gets a successful test in Credentials, but won't backup System State.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I am running in to the exact same issue, but using Backup Exec 12 on a WIndows 2003 server which is a DC. I too have tried all the above links and nothing seems to fix it. KB@INF were you able to get this resolved at all?

No i have not. I still have this problem, but for now i run BE 12.5 agents on the problematic servers and that works for now.

Still havn't found a solution to the problem and Symantec apparantly doesn't either.....

Let me know if you find a solution!

Can you please try to backup the system state with NTbackup(windows internal utility) if that works then make sure on the DC that is having issues while backing up go to
Computer Configurations > Policies >  Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies >User Rights Assignment ->double click on "Log on as a batch job" user right and add Backup Exec logon Account.

Hi there,

Considered uninstalling the RAWS agent from the DC, and then pushing the installation out again?
It cannot be a permissions issue, as you have access to other servers. However, just check and make sure that the service account has Domain Admins rights at a minimum.

Laters!

Not trying to Hijack this thread, but for me the server I am having an issue with is the Media server so I am not using an agent.

My current work around is that I am using NTBackup to backup the system state to a file and then using Backup Exec to backup that file to tape when it backs up the other data on the machine. Frustrating to have to do it this way...

Been there, done that.

I've tried everything and the only thing working is the BE 12.5 agent.
