11d - creating backup-to-disk folders to go to a mapped network drive

I have a NAS 2TB unit that i have set up on the network. I have a server with backup exec 11d on it. I can map a network drive to the NAS device from the server with no problem and can browse the storage, as well. However, when i am trying to create a backup-to-disk folder to go to that NAS unit (on the same subnet), "browse" does not show the disk at all, typing a path (z:\backup_folder) gives back: the system cannot find the path specified”. Should you not be able to create your b2d folder to go to any network resourse?
Please let me know what i am doing wrong. Thank you!

I am having the same issue today. I just got a new 1TB MyBook and Backup Exec allows me to browse to the Mapped drive but upon selecting the drive I get the same message. I messed with it for about 2 hrs. I need help!

Try using \\servername\backup_folder instead of the mapped drive.
