A communications failure has occurred

Hello everyone,

 I'm new to Backup exec so I apologize if this has already been covered. Last night I got this message

 Job ended: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 5:24:48 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.
Final error category: Server Errors

The errors that were log are as follows

The database server is not responding. Backup set canceled.

I check my event viewer and found that there was no drop in connectivity on the network. If anyone can tell me what this means and how to stop it from happening again I would appreciate it.
