ADBO and deleted files

I would like to know when using ADBO and once you have taken the first full backup, and then incrementals. Does the synthetic full backup then know how to remove deleted files? Or should i say does the software know that a files no longer exists in a directory that existing in the full backup, but was deleted later in one of the incrementals?
