AOFO Licensing query / error message

Hi,

We have just installed BackupExec 10d on a new server. We have not purchased a licence for AOFO but are selecting 'Use Advanced Open File Option' with 'Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service' - The other options are greyed out.

When we look at the job logs we see:

AOFO: Initialization failure on: "C:". Advanced Open File Option used: No.
AOFO: Your evaluation copy of the Advanced Open File Option has expired. To obtain a license for the Open File Option product, contact your Backup Exec solution provider. The backup will continue with out using the Advanced Open File Option.

However, as the backup progresses we see this:

AOFO: Started for resource: "\\SERVER\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
The following volumes are dependent on resource: "D:" "E:" "F:" .
The snapshot provider used by VSS for volume D: - Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0 (Version 1.0.0.7).
The snapshot provider used by VSS for volume E: - Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0 (Version 1.0.0.7).
The snapshot provider used by VSS for volume F: - Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0 (Version 1.0.0.7).
Note: Backup Exec did not perform a snapshot of all volumes simultaneously because the option 'Process logical volumes for backup one at a time' was selected as a backup job property.

So, my question is this - Is there a problem? The first message suggests there is, whilst the second suggests there isn't!

Many thanks

Hello,

The error is due to selection of Advanced Open File Option. We suggest you to add the license key for AOFO option or deselect use of AOFO in the backup job to resolve the issue.

Create a job without Advanced Open File Option.

Thank You,

Shweta
