Hi,

I have read the articles mentioned. The article "What is the intended use of the Open File Option and the Advanced Open File Option? "

Says this about the use of AOFO with pst files:

"Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders (PST) files will benefit from OFO and AOFO should an Outlook client be left open on the user's desktop. "

The backup would work correctly with version 8.6 and OFO. Since upgrading to version 10 I am having this issue.

Hello,

Do this:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/193940

And please close outlook at the time of pst backup.

These files are NOT corrupt. The backup fails whenever outlook is open. I thought that was the whole reason I would use AOFO. Again, this worked in version 8.6 with OFO. I have BE at several sites and I am very disappointed in this version 10 upgrade.

I used AOFO in v9.1 and it worked fine for PST files that were left open on remote machines. I am now at v10.0.5520 and I have a different problem.... my AOFO serial is accepted but the checkbox to install the option has a red X and I can't enable that feature.... I will be posting a message here about this but just wanted to let you know that it worked fine in v9.1 for the specific reason to backup PST and OST files on clients that had Outlook 2003 left open.

Hello,

1. Please tell us if you have configured outlook to send mails to the pst file directly or are they sent to your inbox? If they are sent to the pst file directly, the pst stays in a constant state of interaction with exchange, thus being perpetually open al day long.

2. Only for test purposes we are asking you to close Outllook during the backup of pst files.

1. Outlook is configured to deliver mail directly to the pst file.

2. When Outlook is closed the backup is successful.

3. Why did this work in v8.6 and not in v10 ?

Hello,

As you are using AOFO to backup the open pst files, hav eyou enabled teh option "USE Advanced open file option" in the from the Backup job properties -- Under Settings -- "Advanced open file option ?

If no, enable thsi option before taking teh backup.

In the job log does it shows that "AOFO is used"?

Are you backing up ".pst" from a Folder selected in User Shares?

If yes, then select the Folder from under the C: drive instead of Shares. And then verify if you can backup .Pst files when in use.

Please update us on this issue.

I have AOFO running, the "USE Advanced open file option" is checked and I can verify that it is used from the job log.
My pst files are selected from the the drive letter of the server and not via user shares.
Still getting the same problem as stated in the thread.
Is there any resolution?
The purpose of my buying the AOFO is to backup open PST files.
