Access denied when Machine moved out of domain

Hello,
Presently we are testing prior to an AD migration. Our present Doamin is NT Backup exec is 8.6.

We have \\sqlserver, when in the domain all backups run fine. We want to move it into its own workgroup.
When removed from the domain, all domain accounts are created locally on the server- ex. backupoperator, with the same passwords. All I get is acess denied could not connect errors.
Through the admin interface I can see the files I want to backup, we even gave the account admin privileges in the SQL Enterprise manager.

Sorry to quick to post, the credentials were cached and I used the pwdbedit to remove the conflicting user/pass.
