Hi Guys,


I have just started a new job as a web developer and our Backup Exec has stopped backing up correctly. I am not by any stretch of the imagiination a server admin but as I generally know which end of a printer the paper comes out I'm the best they have. So I really need your help. And I am more than happy to beg :)


We are running:

Veritas Backup Exec for Windows Server (Small Business Suite)

Media Server: v9.00 rev 4454

Admin Console: v9.00 rev 4454


Our problem is:

The backup ticks away quite happily for a good two hours and then falls over with the following message. Almost everything is backed up, we are just 1 gig short.


Our error message is:

Job ended: Monday, January 21, 2008 at 4:56:16 PM

Completed status: Failed

Final error code: a0008488 HEX

Final error description: Access is denied.

Final error category: Security Errors

 

Errors: 

Backup - \\SERVERNAME \Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
Access denied to database Mailbox Store (SERVERNAME).


 

Exceptions:

Backup - \\ASASERVER01\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
WARNING: "\\ASASERVER01\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER NAME)" is a corrupt file.

Next steps:

I tried to run the backup at a different time but it failed again with the same error message. Any ideas? I could really use the help.

Is this in the Flat File portion of the backup, or the Exchange portion?
 
does any Exchange data get backed up?
 
Just on GP, I'd recommend the free upgrade to v9.1
