In 11d many changes were made to allow Backup Exec to support IPv6 standards. These changes involved adding new nodes to the browse tree.
The same machine could show up in as many as four places:
If you are referring to the local media server, it would show up directly under "All resources", then it could also show up under one of the Favorite resources sub-nodes, it could show up under the Active Directory Domains, and it could show up under Microsoft Windows Networks.
The server can be selected under any of these nodes, and the system is still protected (each node shows exactly the same resources).
The distinction is there to help make it easier to find a machine on your network ( as well as IPv6 support)
Selecting the server under one node will not select it another node, and it is not necessary for it to be selected under the other nodes. The context of the selection will change the credentials required to attach to it. The observations made in this thread are accurate.
We are working on a more detailed technote to further explain the new nodes in the selection tree.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks,
Daniel
