Admin password change, now Backup Exec 9.1 backups fail

Changed local admin password on Backup Exec server, hit "Backup" tab within BE, get popup with mssg "Your default logon account count not be authenticated. The username or password may be incorrect. Click OK to edit yoru default logon account." Click OK and see popup titled "Edit Logon Credentials". User name field shows "servername\admin", Description field shows
"servername\ admin Default Account", box "This is a restricted logon account" is checked.

Click "Change Password" button and enter new admin password.

What else do I have to do to change the password?

Our backups are failing due to "incorrect password", a limited manual backup has worked, scheduled or full manual backups write to tape and verify, then fail with mssg "Logon failure: Unknown user or bad password", attempts to read catalog on a backup tape return mssg that tape is write-locked, but it is not write-locked. thanks

Keep in mind that you have now changed the local password, if any of the resources you want to backup is on a different server you will need to make sure that the account BE uses is able to reach those sources. (so if there is a BE account on that server you will need to change that password also) This might even be a domain account which will need the same password as your local account.

We have two BE servers and back them up separately, backing up only resources on the BE server. BE was installed under the local admin account on Win2000 Servers which subsequently were joined to a domain. We're encountering similar problems with both BE server. thanks

Hello,

As you have changed the password of the local admin account and it seems that it is your backup exec service account also(BESA), so it is necessary to change it for the BESA also.

All the backup exec services are running under this account? If so , then change the password for all of them.
And restart all the Backup exec services.
