All tapes reported as "Cleaning Media" on single drive library

Hello,
I am running a Windows 2000 Advance Server with BE9.1 on it and I have BE configured to use it's drivers for a DELL LTO 128T 20 slot library with a SINGLE tape drive (Dell 110T). I've attempted to switch out my tapes (routine) and when I attempted to label, inventory, etc the new set of data tapes they're all being reported as cleaning media. I've been through a few forums and I can not find a fix which works. The BE Library PDF reports that when this happens it's because of a cabling issue when you have more than one tape drive. However, again, I have a single tape drive in this library so I do not understand where this issue is arising from. Anybody else found a solution to this problem.

A lot of people have had this problem. It seems to stem from incorrectly ordered SCSI ID's to bad drivers to god knows what. I'm not sure how I am supposed to relabel my SCSI ID's anyone have advice on that? I notice that the tape drive is SCSI ID 1 and the Library starts at 0 do I have to change the SCSI ID's through Windows 2000 or through the SCSI controller when rebooting?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Every hardware has a different method of changing SCSI ID so you need to contact your hardware manufacturer for that.
Also please refer to the following technote
(title) How to troubleshoot issues with a Robotic Library or Tape Drive in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.0

http://support.veritas.com/docs/255501

In case of event ids 7,9 refer to the following technote

(title) How to resolve SCSI bus timeouts

You would have toprobably replace the drive and update firmware as the issue is of cleaning media.
