Auto Inventory

Is there a way to auto inventory tapes when they are placed into an LTO drive? This is not an auto library they are just two stand alone LTO drives. I would like it to auto inventory the tapes when I put them in. Let me know.

Not autoinvneoty, but you can schedule a BEMCMD job to inventory your drives. IIRC it's the -111 switch but verify that before using.

Just do a "BEMCMD /? > BEMCMD.TXT" to get a text file containing all the switches and their usage.

Schedule this wth task scheduler for anytime before your backup job starts

I have trained myself to just do a manual inventory when I swap tapes. A couple of times, this has saved my butt when I've grabbed the wrong volume (one that has not expired jet)

I guess I will stay with the Inventory it manually process to make sure all tape are inserted and have the proper over write protection times. Thanks for the e-mail back.
