BAckup scan on vmware server continues to run

I created the first VMware backup job.  I tested the entire authentication and all were successful   I then started the full backup and it started the backup scan, which appears normal.  After 14 hours it is still running a backup scan.  Is this normal for Backup Exec 2012 to take this long on a backup scan? There are no errors or alerts

Hi,

 

Are there any pending alerts? Take a look at the job (or the Alerts tab) and see if anything is waiting for your input.

Also, is SP1a installed on your media server? If not, install this and push-install the updates to any remote servers you might have.

Have you enabled the pre-scan (Show Progess Indicators) option, which is normally disabled by default, as if you have I'd recommend disabling that. as it can considerably add to the time it takes for a job to start and all it does is enable a percentage bar which you would almost never need as you won't be watching the BE Console when your jobs are actually running.
