I am having great problems backing up my WXPSP2 machines using the Remote Agent. I have read and followed instructions on white papers regarding installation and configuration but still i cannot lon onto the XP machine. If anyone can offer any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

What exact error are you faing? Please describe the same. Ensure that RAWS on suspected remote system is running with "LSA" (Local System Account).

When I try to connect to the PC using the agent the message I get is: Logon account "System Logon Account" failed to access "". The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.

I have followed the instructions on both technical documents 258982 and 275489. Despite these attemps, I am still getting the error. I can back up machines running W2K and XP (SP1) without difficulty.

Thanks for your attention and plese let me know if I can offer more information about this incident.

SP2 turns on all sorts of security garbage that blocks remote login. Disable the firewall or add the ports that the remote agent uses to allow access.

Tried both scenarios and still no connection.

Thanks

Hi,

Please refer these Technotes:

To enable Backup Exec to protect computers running Microsoft Windows XP , the Windows XP computer must have the guest-level share access (ForceGuest) disabled.
