BE 11d hanging on pst file on NW 6.5 server

Problem: BE consistently hangs on random .pst files stored on one of our NW 6.5 server. Cancleing job does not work. Have to reboot BE server and tape drive to regain control.

Environment: Dell PowerEdge 850 running Window 2003 Server with latest and greatest sp and fixes. Tape Unit Dell PowerVault 124T with two magazines. Latest firmware loaded on Loader and LTO3 and wih drivers from HotFix 8. BE has HotFix 10 applied.

Other Facts: Happends most frequently on Daily differential. Full backups do better. Other NW server 6.5 with older SMDR files works ok. Netware TID 3827494 applied to NW server.

Curious Facts: To work around problem, I did an exclude statement on the failing server selection list. Checked pst's and they were not checked in GUI. Last night BE hung on pst file that was not checked????

Can you duplicate the problem with TSATEST as per TID #3827494? If so, you really should be directing this query towards Novell.

Also, are you using the NetWare Open File Option?

All the pst files that the backups were hangup on were 256KB. Netware 6.5 sp5 was having a problem with sparse files. Appling TSA5UP19.exe, document #2973487 28MAR2006 seems to have fixed problem.
