BE 12.5 Hyper-V, Exchange 2007, SQL and GRT Abilities

Currently running BE12.5 on Server 2003 SP2 and have a Hyper-V VM running Exchange 2007 and one running a developement version of SQL 2008.  All works great but when I backup the Exchange and SQL VMs I don't get the GRT functionality with indvidual emails, email boxes or databases.  Is this normal?  Maybe installing the agent on the VM and backing those up individually?  Is there a best practice on how to back-up with VM's that run other critical apps like Exchange, SQL or SharePoint?

Hello,

If you want to use Symantec's Granular Recovery Technology (GRT), you must install the Remote Agent for Windows Systems on the virtual machine

Please check the following technotes:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/312005  : How to backup Hyper-V with Backup Exec for Windows Servers (BEWS)

http://support.veritas.com/docs/310573 :Requirements for the Agent for Microsoft Virtual Servers

I did see the first link you posted but never found the second.  Thanks that helps a lot.

These docs don't say if I have to select the individual servers from my Favorites Resources>Windows Systems area or if I can continue to just select them off of the Favorites Resources>Windows Systems>ServerName>Microsoft Hyper-V area.  Right now I do not have the individual VM servers selected.
