BE 2010 R3 Remote Agent crashes regularly

Our main Backup Exec 2010 R3 (V 13.0 Rev 5204) backup job fails nearly every second day becuase the BE Remote agent crashes onthe file server where the majority of the data resides. Both the file and the media server are running Server 2008 R2 with the latest patchset. No other services or programs are crashing. beremote is ver. 13.0.5204.

Symantec 2nd level support have been unable to resolve the issue after a few weeks and our backups are no longer reliable.

Has anyone else sufered from this problem and if so did yuo find a resolution?

I've currently setup a shceduled task to restart the BE remote agent 1/2 an hour beofre the backup starts in an attempt to get vakid backups of critical data.

Hi

Disable Asynchronous I/O by resetting the following Registry Key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup
Exec\Engine\NTFS\FsUseAsyncIo" to zero (0) and restart the RAWS (beremote)
Service.
Please do this on both media server & remote server & check

Thanks

Are you on SP2 and have the latest hotfixes?  If not, run LU a couple of times to update to SP2 and the latest hotfixes.  After the update, push out the remote agent again.

The solution above seems to have solved the problem for us.
