Hi,

when I try to backup the system state of a node of Microsoft failover cluster I receave this error:

Final error: 0xe000fe34 - A checksum of the data has failed.

The file \_SharedHardlinkData_\96629a09.10000.3fb8 is different.

SO is ut to date and I've a new installation of BE 2010 R3 (all patch installed).

I can exclude any problem on tape or library (IBM TS3100).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Emanuele

I would suggest you to Backup System State to Backup to Disk folder to check if the issue is related to tape drive :

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH83058

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I've the same error when I backup to Disk Folder.

When I use a single tape for backup, the error appear rarely. If I use more than 1 tape, it's happen often.

I'm able to reproduce the same behavior on backup to Disk Folder.

Thanks
Emanuele

Generally this _SharedHardlinkData_ may not contain any user information and even if you enable "view hidden file and folder" and "view Operating system files", you will still not be able to find this folder in C volume of the server. You can attempt to exclude the same from backups by following:

Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

Create a new entry for
_SharedHardlinkData_

Now attempt the system state backup and check whether it still fails or not.
