Hello,
Usually, in most of the cases, the "" error is observed due to configuration settings of Overwrite protection and append periods or if there is no free space on the media. Sometimes, this error happens if data to be backed up exceeds the capacity of the tape.
Please have a look at the technote below:
An explanation of the "Overwrite Protection Period" and the "Append Period"

The following guidelines will be useful to resolve this issue:
- Perform a small backup and verify if the problem appears for this backup. This will isolate the exact cause of the issue due to data size.
- Move the media on which you intend to perform an overwrite operation into Scratch Media and then configure the backup job.
NOTE: Do not move the fresh tape or scratch tape into media set before running a backup job. Specify the Media set name when configuring the backup job properties. This will write the "Overwrite Protection Period"and "Append Period"to the tape header after the backup job finishes.
- To isolate the exact cause of this issue, make sure that all the data to be backed up is accommodated on the respective media. Please ensure that there is enough free space left on the tape. Refer to the following technote:
Title: How to determine the total bytes written to a piece of media within VERITAS Backup Exec http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/235307.htm

This issue could also occur due to SCSI hardware issue.
