BE R3 & SQL 7

fatboy2002
Level 3

unfortunately i still am backuping up a SQL 7 DB (on a vm box). up until R3 I was just using the vm snapshot but after R3 *I am getting the 'file skipped'

error. the error is just a pita and i would like to have it not appear (as it did before R3).

question: in the R3 readme it states I can use the 12.5 agent for windows server for this purpose. if I use this version will the msgs. go away and if so, where can I find the 12.5 agent?

thx in advance

Mike

You will get exceptions or warnings in backup jobs if you use BE12.5 agent with BE2010 media server

Hi,

SQL 7 isn't on the Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 SCL...are you backing up the SQL instance using an agent or the flat files by stopping the SQL services?

If you are backing up the flat files then you're probably running into BE's Active File Exclusion...the message you are getting normally refers to BE NOT backing up files on this AFE list...

THanks!

Hi,

I just checked the Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 Software Compatibility List and SQL 7 is EOL and no longer supported on your version of BE...
