Hi

When I try to Install Backup Exec 11d, I get an error in the log when it tried to register libvxnotificationUI3U.dll

Says BERegisterdll: Failed to call registration function and then proceeds to roll back the install.

Did you ever get anywhere with this?  I have the same issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

I was able to fix it. The problem was to do with permissions on the registry. I'm sorry but I can't remember what it was and I don't work anywhere near that server anymore to check but the way I found out was a I called Symantec support and they knew exactly what to do

Open Regedit

Right-click on HKLM\Software\Classes

Select Permissions

If you only have EVERYONE - this prevents the dll from being registered.

Add the Admin Group and give full control

Click OK and try the install again

Note: Incorrect use of the Windows Registry Editor can have disastrous results on a server operating system. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows Registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the Registry Editor application
