BE hangs when making backup selections.

Dennis_Johnson
Level 2
I'm running BE 9.1 - 4691 SP2 with hotfix 47 installed on a w2k SP4 box. One of the servers I need to backup is a w2k3 (no SP) server running Exchange 2003 SP1. This combination had been running flawlessly for about 8 months when I suddenly lost the ability to attach to the w2k3 box. There were no changes to our environment, BE accounts or passwords, etc. - it just stopped working. I do have a w2k server running Exchange 5.5 that I am still able to backup. I also have a number of other w2k3 servers that I can backup, but none of those are running Exchange.

I have verified that port 10000 has no conflicts on either server. I also have enabled "Restrict Anonymous" on both servers. I have also run a DB repair on the media server. The BE service account has a unique and tested mailbox that is not hidden from the GAL.

Currently, if I try to set up a new job for the w2k3 Exchange server, BE hangs when clicking on the "+" to expand drives for the server. The BE services must be killed and restarted to recover from this condition.

I have debugging turned on on both servers. This first listing is from the media server.

And that's where things sit until BE is killed on the media server. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,

Have you reinstalled the remote agent after applying SP2 and Hotfix 47?

Are you not able to browse just mailboxes?

Make sure that remote agent service is running with local system account.

Also refer this technote:

Hi, Shilpa.

Thanks for the reply. These are the answers to your questions.

- Yes, I have reinstalled the remote agent after the update to SP2 and Hotfix 47.

- No, I cannot browse ANY drives on the server, not just mailboxes.

- The remote agent IS running under the local system account.

- I am in compliance with all aspects of Doc 242606.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Dennis.
