BE times keep getting longer

togajohn

Running BE on HP Proliant ML350 G6, saving to HP DAT 160 GB tape via USB running Windows server standard edition with SP 2. The times keep going up and I'm not sure why, data listed below. It will work fine for a few days like data at bottom for end of August and then get progressivley worse until it starts on Friday night and is still running Monday AM. The backup starts at 11 PM, this is a govermeny agency that works 9-5. The job rates don't seem to fluctuate. Based on last 2 job rates compared to amount bytes saved the job rate doesnt seem correct. Any help would be appreacited. Thanks

Recreating the job seems to have fixed the issue, back up times the last 4 days are:4:29, 4:29, 4:34 and 4:34.

It seems that the backups are completing in time but the time after that for Friday backups is getting utilised in removing the tape from the drive.

Have you selected the option to Eject tape after the backups?/

If Yes then do the following settings:

1) Go to Alerts tab in backup Exec

2) Click on Configure Alert category and then a small window will open

3) Select Media Remove category

4) On the right side select " Automatically Respond to the Alert" after " 2 minutes"

5) Click OK to save the changes

Now run the jobs and it will be shown completed in time.

Thanks,

Tried the what was suggested above and still not working correctly, I deleted the reoccurring job process yesterday, created a new one  and backup completed in 4:30. Hopefully the times stay close to that range. Thanks

Good to hear that. But I would still like to recommend to keep the Automatic Response settings ON.

Thanks,
