BE10 wants to install MSDE

I have a BE10 server running on a server and using an SQL2000 database on another server. It works fine, but when I try to add the Desktop and Laptop Option through "Serial Numbers and Installation", the installer tries to install MSDE on the local backup server.

Is there some way to work around this? I can't se why it should install MSDE, and there is no option in the installer to select that.

Hello,
the following article will help you:
The Desktop and Laptop Option media server must be installed locally.

Sorry, but no.

I am already doing a local installation. The only thing that's remote is the SQL database, which is why it shouldn't even try to install a local MSDE database...

Hi,

As mentioned in the technote http://support.veritas.com/docs/271118 the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) database does not install the DLO instance properly when installed remotely
